Happy Halloween!

Best costume/vintage shops ever off the belmont red line stop. Where else could you find a 2-piece outfit made of glittery plastic? Nowhere, that's where. Perfect mix of the traditional stupid packaged costumes that are fun to look and absolutely crazy clothes that make being anything on Halloween possible.
I'm still trying to find a lampshade for my costume..I'm being the lamp lamp from A Christmas Story. I may have to commandeer the lamp in my room as a last resort.

Circus class at the Actor's Gynmasium, I finally got my leg up..and stuck up.
Trip to Threadless offices. So many shirts!

Ouch.

How is it that I manage to avoid burning myself all day long in a hot glass shop, then burn my hand on the oven making pizza at home? 2300 degree liquid glass? No problem..but 400 degree itty bitty oven, WATCH OUT folks!!!

weekend is almost over.

I thought about writing a eulogy for this weekend because it was that good. It's sunday night, now. Kaitlyn, Leigh, and I are watching really cool stuff on youtube. It's just one of those really good nights. It's raining outside and it's the kind of rain that is so gooooood to listen to. sooo gooooood. Leigh and I went on a fantastic bike ride all the way up to Loyola today. Turns out, the lakefront bike path does not go all the way up..we thought it did, and it was pretty sad when it ended. All in all it was a good day.
Also, I ate Indian leftovers and honeycrisp apples.

hella postmodern.

My blog is getting outa OZ!

This past Sunday our core course visited Trinity church. This is the church that the Obamas belonged to in Chicago before all that jazz happened. (watched All That Jazz last night..so good..must.find.leotard). I must admit, I went into church thinking I was just an observer, I would listen politely, try and not be awkward. I ended up taking away so much more than just observations. Anyway, it was freaking amazing. Wait.. church...amazing? Yes. This was just beyond belief. Trinity is known for being very outspoken and did they ever speak out!!! The choir was amazing, everyone who spoke was amazing...AMAZING is the only word to describe it.
The sermon was about "getting out of oz" Dorothy style a la Wizard of Oz...surrounding yourself with good people and making your life what you want it to be; no excuses. What a relevant message from somewhere/one I didn't expect to relate to. He spoke to the broad human experiences that we all share as well as specific to the Chicago African American community.
SO with that in mind, I'm getting my blog out of Oz. New format! New background! An actual post! Blog, from now on I promise to update you regularly and give you the attention you deserve.
p.s. Going to Threadless tomorrow w/ the business group, AIC tomorrow night, the ballet on Friday! Best combo ever?

Miller Girl in the Moon.jpg

HA!

circus continued... WOAH. Just googled some tricks to go over what I learned today. One of the ones I remembered from class is called the "girl in the moon." You do in on the hoop. Instead of the trick coming up on google, beer came up! I guess Miller High Life has/had a logo of the "girl in the moon" which looks vaguely similar to the aerial arts move.. Her slogan/line is, "I'm the girl in the moon, and I want to tell you everything I know."
NOW what I really want to know is which "girl in the moon" came first? The eternal question! Can it ever be answered? Are circus folk inspired by a cheap beer's nostalgic logo? Were the brewers closet circus fanatics? More research will be conducted.
Circus class today...hanging on large metal hoops in the air hurts! I still don't get how people make it look so effortless and painless!!! Gotta work on that..I think I'll be sore until class next week!
